Eclipse 4/8/24 in Cleveland -

Thanks to Richard Spechalske of Cleveland for his More…email last year about this year's eclipse path (because I had posted here about the wonderful experience seeing two prior in the Pacific Northwest, on 2/26/79 and 8/12/2017.)

I flew to Cleveland 4/6 on Frontier Air from Portland, and that's basically when the $1.1 Billion Powerball ticket was bought. Sheesh, I didn't buy a ticket. I was stuck midnight to 5 AM in Las Vegas. Definitely more risky to book a hotel than to just sleep on the airport floor, Terrible place to sleep, btw. Classmate Shelley Woods joined me the next day at a hotel.

Richard teaches law at Case Western Reserve and was great to us, driving us around the Case Western Reserve campus, and we saw some cool spots in and around Cleveland on Lake Erie.

Total eclipse was on time, although I had put it in my memory ten minutes early, sort of a habit I have with docketing things so I don't show up too late.

During totality, the Corona of the sun is the energy reaching us, which makes many eclipse people. I'm not likely to drive to the remotest Northeast corner of Montana to see the next one in North America in 2044, but I hope to make it to 8/12/2045 which comes ashore around Crescent City, CA, which my ex and I visited when our first baby was a one-year-old. Happy spring and Happy Birthdays to Mary Haack on 4/17 and Catherine McMasters on 4/19. Being a kid in Billings was so amazing. Love to all. KOB

Turkey Shoot Recap -

The photo includes five of the alums who participated in Randy Freeck's spectacular Turkey Shoot: Mark Dahlberg, Dave Stuart, Tim Cranston, Steve Kembel and Randy Freeck. Other attendees included Susan Lindsey Carlson, Debra Harris Allmer, Kevin Allmer and Ann Roecker Cranston. The festive event raised $120 to help defray the cost of the Reunion. Dave, Steve and Randy each won a Turkey Shoot in nail-biting shootouts, while Mark and Tim fought hard for the coveted last-place finish. Thank you Randy!
